Lincomycin (LINCO) is an antibiotic extensively used in treatment of Gram-positive bacteria, especially for Staphylococcus, Streptococcus and some Vibrio or Bacillus species. Side effects include nausea, abdominal pain, blood pressure drop or shock, somestimes allergic reaction and inflammation. Lincomycin is also effective in treating mycoplasma and Treponema hyodysenteriae, but shows weak activity against Gram-negative bacteria.
EU MRL rules the total residues of all substances within the Lincomycin in milk should not exceed 150 ppb.
Drug residues test of Lincomycin applies the principle of competition-inhibition immunochromatography. Lincomycin in the sample binds to specific monocolonal antibodies labeled by colloidal gold, which prevent antibodies from binding to haptens immobilized on test line. Therefore, uncolored test line indicates a positive result.
