Aflatoxins are secondary metabolites secreted by Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. They are often produced when corn, peanuts, rice, wheat, nuts and other foods become moldy, accompanied with very strong hepatotoxicity and carcinogenicity. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified it as group 1 absolute carcinogen compound, mainly B1, B2, G1 and G2 types, among which the toxicity of aflatoxin B1 the strongest.

When a person or an animal ingests foods or feeds contaminated with aflatoxin B1, the body metabolizes and secrets aflatoxin M1 in the milk. Aflatoxin M1-containing milk products are associated with liver damages. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) regulate that the content of aflatoxin M1 in dairy products should not exceed 0.5 ppb to avoid public health hazards.

Agitest Food Safety Rapid Test - Aflatoxin M1, is an immunochromatographic test for the detection of aflatoxin M1 in milk. All reagents required for the test are included in the test kit. Results are interpreted visually.
